Our roster
of returning pros is led by Lorraine Klippel, LPGA Master Professional
and Director of Golf. Andy Gingerich, PGA Class ‘A’ Member
is returning to our West Shore location and is available for lessons
Tuesdays through Sundays. Laura Tyler, LPGA Class ‘A’ Member
is returning to our East Shore location and will be teaching Mondays,
Wednesdays, and Fridays. In 2003 we will have three additional full-time
teaching professionals:
LORRAINE GARMAN KLIPPEL –
Director of Golf
LPGA Master Professional
The
LPGA's Professional of the Year in 1983 and again in 1992, Lorraine
is a lead instructor of the LPGA's Educational Program Seminars, traveling
several times yearly to teach Advanced Clubfitting to her fellow professionals.
During the 1980's she served two terms as the LPGA's Northeast Section
President; during that same decade she qualified 8 consecutive years
to play in the Lady Keystone Open, an LPGA Tour event held in Hershey,
PA. More recently, in 1996 Lorraine won the Senior Division of the LPGA's
National Championship for Teaching and Club Professionals, carding a
final day 68 on the difficult Chateau course at the Chateau Elan Resort
and Winery in Braselton, GA. She has contributed articles to Golf
Digest, Golf for Women, Tee Time, and Pennsylvania Magazine
and has been a presenter at numerous national symposiums. She holds
a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Saskatchewan with
majors in physical education and mathematics, and a Masters of Science
in biomechanics from Penn State University. Lorraine is available for
lessons by appointment at both facilities.
ANDREW S. GINGERICH
PGA Class ‘A’ Member
Returning for his fourth year, Andy Gingerich is a Class 'A' Member
of the PGA and our Head Professional at Bumble Bee Hollow West. Andy
comes to us from York County, where he worked as an Assistant Golf Professional
at Briarwood, Red Lion, and Bon Air Country Clubs since graduating from
Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1991 with a degree in Finance.
Andy was a successful amateur golfer: three times Outdoor Country Club
Champion, 1990 York County Champion, MVP with low stroke average his
senior year at I.U.P., and a contender in NCAA Division II Nationals
for three years running. Since turning professional, he has had little
time for tournament play, though his team did win the Miller Pro/Am
in 1997, and he was low professional on the 1999 winter Penguin tour.
Andy, his wife Josie, and his two daughters reside in York, PA. When
he is not teaching or playing golf, Andy's hobbies are the stock market,
sports card collecting, computers, club repair and the history of golf.
As our Head Professional at Bumble Bee Hollow West, Andy teaches private,
semi-private, and group lessons. Please feel free to call for an appointment!
MARIA MILLS
LPGA Class ‘A’ Professional
Maria
Mills was born and raised in St. Thomas, the Virgin Islands, where her
father, a golf professional, began her golf instruction at a tender
age. Maria attended Florida International University in Miami on a golf
scholarship, and graduated in 1993 with a degree in Sports Management.
Following her graduation she spent two years playing the Gold Coast
and Futures mini-tours.
From 1996 until her arrival in Pennsylvania, Maria held a variety of
positions at courses throughout the state of Florida, including TPC
Sawgrass and PGA National. Most recently she was Head Golf Professional
at Binks Forest Trio of Championship Clubs. Her parents have now retired
to Palm Harbor, Florida, where Maria likes to “hang out at the
beach” when she isn’t working.
Since her mother was originally from Ontario, Canada, Maria decided
to accept our offer to see what it was like in the Northeast. She has
joined our fulltime staff as a teaching professional and clubfitter,
and will be working at both our East and West Shore locations. Please
welcome Maria to Bumble Bee Hollow.
